We dedicated the fields to swallowing history whole, so that new ways of existing had space to be.
Don was having deeper more connected conversations with the eco-system and the eco-system had a lot to say.
We started using an amazing bio-mulch made in Italy and shipped to Canada.
Each field was teaching us something new, each year was unique and then gone, what happened the year before could not be a reference point for the next year.
I think it was February of 2004 we had difficulty finding seeds. All the commercial crops had failed ~ but it had been an incredible year for us. Two more pairs of heartfelt hands came to help us with harvest and processing. Abby and David ~ they have been a part of the fields ever since. Their loving presence is imbued in the landscape.
Don's confidence in his communication with the entire eco-system was growing. Information on what to plant and where to plant became clearer.
Harvest this year was huge ~ any container available was full and overflowing with produce and our gratitude ~
