2003 - Year Two

This year the fields were ceremonially dedicated to cultivating the states of freedom, abundance, and love.  All our thoughts and actions in relationship to the crops and eco-system were to cultivate these states, in ourselves and our crops.  Encoding in the cells of our bodies and the cell body of the plants the experience of freedom, abundance, and love.

We still had struggles with deer eating the plants (a problem no one raising hot peppers had ever experienced).  It was hard - until we started farming we loved the deer coming in close, bringing their babies to us to meet.  Mother deer would often give birth to their fawns just a few feet from our front door.  But we stayed in "the conversation".

Don started cutting alternative pathways for wild life to traverse.  We started reading the Avalon myths about Kings - Queens - Knights relationship to their land and people.  We have always believed the outer landscape reflects the inner landscape, and kept looking inside ourselves, what beliefs needed to dissolve in us.

This year an early frost caught us by surprise.  My father with a recent hip replacement went out into the fields with me.  We went through each plant to see if anything could still be harvested ~

The view of Southern Wisconsin from our fields is his favorite - flying airplanes was his great love - so he loves open vistas ~

And we continued.....
